You need OBSESSION to improve at chess. I went from chess com 600 in July 2020 to chess com 2200 just because I was so obsessed.

I had a BF who thought he was intellectually superior to me (I hadn’t told him what my previous talents were). So, he played Chess as a hobby, and I wanted him to teach me. And he did – for only three games. He quit teaching me after only a few games because I had beaten him twice. He was actually angry/ resentment that I had won! It’s crazy! He was the schmuc that taught me! You’d think he’d be proud of his ability to teach! He was selfish in other ways too, so I had to let the bastard go. That’s when I started dating a Matthew McConaughey/ George Clooney look-alike I met at the gym. He was a certified trainer, btw. 🙂

saw an interview with a grandmaster once. he said the first thing at getting good at chess is you have to love playing chess. i stopped worrying about it then because i hate playing chess…lol.
