“Only a bot would play that!” Sacrificing a Queen in chess is a move you’re much more likely to see a bot make as opposed to a human, as humans want to protect the game’s most valuable piece. In the wake of the recent chess cheating scandal, Levy Rozman from GothamChess explains how you actually cheat at chess. Using artificial intelligence, see how people use everything from bathroom cell phones to ear pieces to try to skirt the rules and gain an edge.

WIRED is where tomorrow is realized. Through thought-provoking stories and videos, WIRED explores the future of business, innovation, and culture.
I know he said people are risk adverse and nobody would play that risky but doesn’t that mean its kinda an untapped playstyle that some people could be using
America needs to chill with the raspy and needlessly over dramatic narrators. 🪦😆
Chess pro? But is just levy!
I’m glad to be the official sponsor of Gothamchess 😊.
Chess “Pro”
Guess what?
Gonna watch this even tho I have to sleep
Obligatory mention of possibility of a stockfish rectal device to be smuggled, hence a more thorough body scanning may play a part in the future of the game
Here’s hoping it doesn’t devolve further into full body nudity searches though 😂
Literally watching him on lex fridman an hour or two ago.
Gothamchess!!! 😍😍😍
Is this what all the virgins end up doing with their free time?
AYO LEVY ON WIRED?! LETS GOO
Wow this was interesting and diff
OKAY LEVY I SEE YOU ON WIRED BOI
This is really pedantic but Chess AI isn’t AI. It’s Machine Learning, it’s not intelligent and can’t think for itself, it’s just trained on hundreds-billions of chess games. Machine learning /= AI even though they’re used interchangeably. (this is mostly for the Wired voiceover script instead of Levy)
AI is beyond what anything Machine learning can do, it sets up expectations that could never be met. Calling it “Chess AI” I guess is better but chess software or a chess programme would be more accurate. Maybe even a new term like CB or CC for Chess Bot or Chess Computer, like Levy does use in the video, would be more accurate. It’s the same as Tesla’s Auto-pilot and the way it makes people think they don’t have to drive the car and can just sit on there phone until they get to where they’re going. Wrong branding and wrong terminology changes peoples expectations of what can be achieved with the product.
Still, great video, loved it 😀
Those who know Levy before this video like this comment
Levy: sacrificing queen for nothing isn’t human 🤨
Meanwhile: Eric Rosen in his every video “oh no my queen!” 😯😏
I would have picked a better chess player, but Levy is probably better at spotting engine moves because of his “Catching cheaters” series
I never clicked this fast before 😂
3:53 wonder how Maxim Dlugy knew all the details of how one would cheat hahah
I would never think that gotham chess would get on wired
