Really now? You went on a hike for a couple miles with no one around and you really think someone was going to hear that?
I get the friend wanted to help her, but it does seem like everything bad that happened is technically her fault. Yeah, she got her without getting pulled down too, but she was the genius who shook the ladder loose when teasing her friend (to which I feel like if you know the tower is old and rusty, that should be the last thing you do).
