Destiny 2 Season of Plunder – How to Take 75% – 90% Less Damage (Passive Resistance Mod StackingGuide) / 100 Resilience & 3 Damage Resist Mods – How Much Passive Damage Resistance? Armor of the Dying Star & 100 Resilience. Just a quick video showing how you can easily get anywhere from 75% to 90% passive damage resistance, showing how much Spark of Resistance Arc Fragment and Striking Light reduces damage, and a build allowing you to survive most situations in the game without much effort. Details below.
I only wanted to include damage resists that were more or less passively attainable. Things that don’t require picking up Wells or having Charged With Light, no supers, and no weapon blocking. There’s a lot of other damage resists that I’ve previously covered and individually tested, but for the purpose of this video I just wanted these buffs that could all stack together.
Outside of resilience and chest resistance mods, I included Striking Light (activated simply while sprinting), Spark of Resistance Arc Fragment (being near 3 enemies), and Riskrunner as an extra (taking arc damage further reduces arc damage). The last two won’t be up all the time, but they’re passive enough should you choose to spec into them in situations. Striking Light is pretty much always active when trying to survive, provided you aren’t standing on the spot. When all of these are active, you’ll take anywhere from 75% – 90% less damage, depending on the situation and source of damage. These also won’t be 100% accurate considering rounding and no actual damage numbers, but they should be close enough. I also chose not to include applying Disruption to enemies for another 25% on top of that, as it was too awkward to be able to apply to the Vandal I was testing on. But in general play that’s much more achievable, and will further help.
As a “Chest Resist Mods 101”: You can only ever have 2 of the same resist type. Having 3 of the same type (with an artifice armour piece) won’t stack together. However, you can combine 2 Arc / Solar / Void Resist mods with another Sniper Resist / Melee Resist / Concussive Dampener, as they do work together. On their own, all 6 of these provide a base 15% damage reduction. 2 of the same will provide a 25% damage reduction. If you combine 1 Arc / Solar / Void with 1 Sniper / Melee / Concussive, this will be slightly more beneficial and give you a 28% damage reduction. A 2/1 combination will provide 36% (as shown in the video with 2 Arc Resists and 1 Sniper Resist together).
Lastly, resilience technically doesn’t give you a 47% damage reduction. It increases your total health. But for the sake of simplicity and testing in this video, as the amount of pixels are unchanged and we don’t actually see damage numbers, it makes more sense to treat it as a damage reduction amount.
Damage Resist Values Shown:
At 0 Resilience:
1 Resist Mod: 15%

Does this help for GMs?
Question and I hope you see this cause I’m curious.. would land tank work with this or is the duration to short to keep procted. Or some other reason.
Now imagine if passive guard was currently available…
But divinity is what makes the game too easy right? 💀💀💀💀
Happy 400K subs, Eso! 😊
thx a lot
Great video! I miss when you used to do these and the “things you might not know” videos. Thank you! I’ll always enjoy watching you crush a GM and try to learn from your loadouts on what I might be missing.
I run Arc subclass, but my chest is void so I can have thermoshock plating (arc&solar damage resist) and the other slot is a void resist. This gives me some damage resistance from elements all but stasis. It works great, but I use cover a lot and play smart too. Sometimes you just can’t get out of a mess and you have to be able to tank damage. So far it seems to keep me alive. Thank you for the video.
Thanks buddy
you’re the best
this game is actually a joke lmao why is free 50% dr for doing nothing possible
100 Res is not reducing damage by 47%, it is reducing by the expected 40% and increasing your health by something like 2hp per level (I can’t remember the exact number). The result is more EHP, but technically that extra health goes a lot farther once you include all the other resists, giving you even more EHP – but not reducing the damage you actually take.
Can’t imagine how long this must have taken you to compile. Thanks so much!
Thank you for this!! My wife is extremely casual but wants to try more endgame activities so I’ve been looking into passive builds. This plus shinobus vow with a grenade-jolt build will be great.
*400k! We did it!*
This took more time than most would think. My hat is off to you, sir.
again, mods which are limited by how much you no life the game. also never explained in game with stacking. failure on bungie dev’s again.
